Fleur De Stitch'd is a black woman owned business in Baton Rouge, LA. I am the owner, Micah. I started dying in 2019. I absolutely love this journey and the people I have met along the way.
I started crocheting initially. My big sister taught me. I believe I was still in high school at the time. I moved to Virginia Beach in 2016 and soon learned to knit. It was my first experience with hand dyed yarn and fell in love with the different dye techniques and playing with color. Later I moved to Whidbey Island, WA in 2017. The shops there was completely different than those on the east coast. I started a group on Facebook to find like minded people to build a community of fiber friends. In 2018, I decided to move back home and was highly disappointed to find out the yarn shop was closing in Baton Rouge.
After doing some research, I decided to dye my own yarn for me to make projects. I absolutely love what I do. I love meeting people at market shows. It's been a blast learning more and more about the fiber community.
In May 2022, I organized the Baton Rouge Fiber Arts & Makers Festival. It was such an honor to organize this event. I had such a great time meeting other indie dyers and visitors near and far from Baton Rouge. I'm hopeful to host this event every year.
With your continuous support, I look forward to more great things happening for my business and my community.
